The school was established in 1946. It has been a high school since 1956. In 1972, it was merged with a Ukrainian high school. It regained its independence in 1991, which was demanded by the Hungarian population.\nThe school was named after Per\u00e9nyi Zsigmond in 1991, who was a martyr of the Hungarian War of Independence.
