History

The foundation stone of the theater was laid in the town center on July 19, 1896, in honor of the Millennium of Hungary. Richárd Röszler, an architect from Debrecen, won the tender for its construction based on the plans of Vojta Adolf. The theater was completed in a short time, and it was able to accommodate 500 people. It was opened on November 28, 1899.
