It was the tower of the gate leading to Dics\u0151szentm\u00e1rton. It was in the care of masons and stone carvers. In 1705 it was damaged by the kuruc insurgents during the Hungarian War of Independence led by R\u00e1k\u00f3czi Ferenc II.
