By 1931, the school was already offering teacher training, and by 1965 690 Hungarian-speaking teachers and kindergarten teachers had qualified. From the school year 1953-54, the institution was gradually transformed into a theoretical lyceum. From 1973 onwards, the building housed a vocational secondary school. From the 1990-1991 academic year, the teacher training college was re-launched with a secondary school degree and a three-year course after school leaving exam. In 1991 the school took the name of Bod P\u00e9ter. Under the current education legislation, it is not possible to run a teacher training department at the lyceum level.
