The plaque was placed on the facade of the Rákóczi Palace.

History

The memorial plaque was placed on the wall of Rákóczi Mansion in 1911. Rákóczi Ferenc II arrived in Munkács with his army on June 16, 1703, and stayed in the Rákóczi Mansion, as the castle was in the hands of the imperials. It became his headquarters during the War of Independence, and he also minted his coins in Munkács. After the fall of the Hungarian War of Independence in 1711, he went into exile and died in Rodosto, Turkey.
